Our Heritage Magazine is proud to announce that the new section

“PERSPECTIVE”, dedicated to giving our younger generation a voice,

will be launching in the upcoming June Printed Edition!

Sponsored by supporters of Our Heritage Magazine that include some of today’s most “forward thinking” and pro-active social, political and economic leaders, like Dr. Frank McCune and Dr. Charles W. Edwards, Jr., the purpose of this section is to provide a platform from which our youth’s voices can be heard.  We hope to encourage our young people to share their thoughts on the issues and topics that matter most to them by giving them the opportunity to express themselves to the world through writing. 

Thank you in advance for helping us to engage our young people in the societal discussions that matter most to them.

CONTEST OUTLINE

• Three essays will be chosen for publication in the upcoming June Printed Edition of Our Heritage Magazine.
  • FIRST PLACE:  $150.00, 1^st Place Certificate, 2 Copies of Printed Edition with their Published Entry
  • SECOND PLACE: $50.00, Certificate of Publication, 2 Copies of Printed Edition with their Published Entry
  • THIRD PLACE:  Certificate of Publication, 2 Copies of Printed Edition with their Published Entry
• All submissions accompanied by a signed release will be reviewed and considered for publication in Our Heritage Magazine. 
• Essays may be edited for grammar and spelling.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

Deadline: Postmarked By May 25^th, 2012

·         AGE:  4^th - 12^th  Grade

·         LENGTH: 100 -150 Words

·         TOPIC:  Open

·         REQUIRED INFORMATION: 

o   Name:  Full Name, however, only First Name and Last Initial will be printed

o   Age: Age in Years

o   Location:  City, State (Country, if outside the United States)

o   Contact Information:  Full Mailing Address and Phone Number where consenting adult may be reached and certificate / award for child may be mailed if essay is chosen for publication.

o   RELEASE:  ALL Submissions must be accompanied by written permission from a parent or legal guardian to publish the essay or it WILL NOT be reviewed.  

The release should read: 

 I, (ADULT’S FULL NAME PRINTED), am the parent /legal guardian of (CHILD’S FULL NAME PRINTED) and as such grant permission for his/her essay to be published and used by Our Heritage Magazine.
