I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading the articles, but I am most stricken by the images. They are so vibrant and as for the old black and whites all I can say is they bring alot of memories to mind. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

I have now been following your site for over 6 months. I have enjoyed the mixture of history and modern culture and concerns. Everything is always well written and illustrated. I am retired military and appreciate the fact that you remember us year round, not just on Veterans’ Day. I wish you much continued success in the coming year!

  • Jen says:

Hi! I just wanted to wish you a Blessed New Year and let you know that I really appreciate the effort and hard work that must go into keeping this site so up-to-date and relevant. The images themselves are worth coming for, but I always learn something new when I visit. Thank you for your efforts!

Just wanted to wish yo a Happy New Year and thank you for the wonderful article on Kwanzaa! It had already begun and ended by the time I first read the article, but now that I realize it isn’t actually a conflict with my Christian belief and celebration of Christ’s birth, I am excited at the “togetherness” time it could give my family next year! Thank you again and have a GLORIOUS NEW YEAR!!!!!!

  • JerromeP says:

I have added you to my bookmarks because I admire the way you express your ideas and I like the variety of topics. I also appreciate that there is no celebrity gossip/hype/half-nude photos. Thank you for providing a tasteful publication.

A friend had posted a link to your article on his page on facebook and I just wanted to let you know I appreciate the time you have taken to help me better understand Kwanzaa. I have never seen so much information in one place. I had always thought it was a religious holiday that conflicted with Christmas. I now understand it is a celebration of who we are as a people, not a religious holiday at all. I am going to attend my friend who posted the link’s Kwanzaa feast. Thank you again for sharing.

I truly loved your site. I have bookmarked it in Stumbleupon and posted a link to the Kwanzaa article on my Facebook. I have never seen such a great explanation of Kwanzaa in all my years! I always thought I had to choose between it and Christmas and being a Christian that meant that celebrating Kwanzaa was not an option. I now realize that one is exclusive of the other. I had always believed it was a religious conflict, but now I realize it is not a religious celebration at all, but instead a unifying celebration of who we are, where we came from and what we have and can do collectively. I really cannot thank you enough for opening my eyes! May you be blessed in the new year and always!

I just finished reading the article on “What’s Wrong with America” and all I can say is AMEN!!!! I may not agree with every point, but it is refreshing to hear some one tell it like they see it, WITHOUT a political agenda. Thank you!

This is the first time that I have visited and like some of the readers commented before me, I do not usually leave comments either. However, I am compelled to tell you that this site is TRULY UNIQUE. I was looking for articles and information on the Black Heritage Trail all evening with very little luck finding anything interesting until I found you! Not only was the original article that brought me here on Birmingham interesting, so is the entire site! Thank you for sharing!

Nice site. I learn something interesting everytime I visit. I am going to use your article on The Culture of Health as a reference in a write up I am doing on Black Health and Medical Issues. Naturally I’ll include a link to your site in my write up. Thanks for sharing.

I came across your site while looking for information on Juneteenth. I am putting together a piece for Black History month on different holidays and celebrations inspired by African Americans. I was shocked to see how vibrant and alive the site is. Most sites I have searched for information are very drab and are either like reading an encylopedia or have very basic alomost newspaper like visual effects. This site is anything but drab! I love the bold colors and the slideshow is absolutely unique and captivating. Thank you for such an interesting site. I now have you book marked and I WILL be coming back! Happy Holidays from Mississippi!

An associate of mine recommended your site on Facebook. I am really glad a clicked. I always take my family on a weekend trip in February to commemorate Black History month. We live in Illinois and I had no idea that St. Louis had so much to offer in refards to black history. not only will it be an interesting destination, it will be one of our most economical ones as well. It is close enough that we can drive verses having to fly everyone. Thanks for the great information!

Unique, interesting, vibrant… These are just a few of the words I would use if I were writing a review of this site. From its structure and color scheme to its content and images everything about this site is unique! My favorite feature by far is the slideshow! Its not only informative, but the images on it are vibrant and mostly would speak for themselves even if they did not have text descriptions accompanying them. Thumbs up all the way!!

My family and I will be spending Thanksgiving in St. Louis and I was looking for things to do together for the few days we are there. I found your site in the process of searching for things to do and I just wanted to say this is a great site!! I watched the entire slideshow and felt like I had taken a journey through our past. The original article that brought me here was the one on Missouri and the Heritage Trail. I had no idea that St. Louis was part of the Heritage Trail. Thank you for helping me fill our itinerary and for producing such a great site!

I spotted one of your images when I was doing an image search and it intrigued me, so I came by to check it out. Glad I did. FYI – I also bookmarked this page on Digg.com so others can find it too.

I recently was referred to this site by a friend and admittedly took my sweet time about coming to see it. However, after he asked me for the 3rd time whether I had been here I thought I would give it a glance.Well, now it is 2 hours later and I have looked at every image and read every article and signed up for your newsletter. I am hooked!I will be watching my email for new updates! Thank you for giving our past a voice and the people of today roots to grow from!
